Such a wonderful story that takes you on a hard fought journey to a sweeeet HEA！Don't know where to start with this goodness。 Its so freaking good from start to finish！ I especially loved the flips back to their pasts and into the now。 It was so seamless it was like you were in their heads。Tori is the sweet responsible girl next door。 I love her she's always just trying to keep everyone happy。 She has always looked after her younger brother Colt and when he becomes best friends with Jace the boy Such a wonderful story that takes you on a hard fought journey to a sweeeet HEA！Don't know where to start with this goodness。 Its so freaking good from start to finish！ I especially loved the flips back to their pasts and into the now。 It was so seamless it was like you were in their heads。Tori is the sweet responsible girl next door。 I love her she's always just trying to keep everyone happy。 She has always looked after her younger brother Colt and when he becomes best friends with Jace the boy next door she takes on him too。 They become an inseperable trio。 As the years pass her feelings change and become much much more for Jace。 They have one perfect summer which unfortunately ends up ripping them all apart for years。A series of horrific events bring Tori back home。 Jace follows and here they begin their tough journey back to where they should always have been。 Together。I really did love Tori。 We meet her at her lowest and boy do you feel her struggles。 At the start she's scared and lonely and broken but over the pages you feel her strength start to build and with the help of Jace and Colt by the end shes a real warrior。Jace is such a romantic！ I loved him！ Although hes jaded and bitter at the start its only because he was so hurt he acted this way。 When you see the real jim he's very sweet and loving and just a bit of a hero really。 Swoon！ Theres so much emotion packed in here between the main characters。 So much hurt but also so much love。 I really felt for all of them。 For me the teary parts came from both their Colt connections。 Two best friends reconnecting caused a few droplets lol but brother and sister coming together again？ Yup bit of a tidal wave！ Loved the whole story from beginning to end。 I was invested from page one and these guys take you on an uphill struggle to the sweetest of endings。I can't bloody wait for Colts book！ He needs an even happier ending！ I mean the sickliest sweeted ending EVER！ I'm mid broken hearted for him so it needs extra sugar coated happiness for him！ Highly recommend this emotional story。 It breaks you then fixes you and leaves you so happy for them。 All is right with the world！ Well。。。 except just need Colt to be fixed。。。 hurry Cora！ We need him smiling！ 。。。more

I'll start by saying that Cora Brent is one of my favorite authors。 I have loved most of her books。 Unfortunately， this one just didn't do it for me。Jace and Tori grew up together。 Jace is the best friend of Tori's brother and the three of them were pretty much inseparable。 Tori and Jace don't get together until they are teenagers， right when Tori is moving about an hour away。 We are given a few flashbacks， which I love， of them together。 Eventually， things happen and they have an awful break-up I'll start by saying that Cora Brent is one of my favorite authors。 I have loved most of her books。 Unfortunately， this one just didn't do it for me。Jace and Tori grew up together。 Jace is the best friend of Tori's brother and the three of them were pretty much inseparable。 Tori and Jace don't get together until they are teenagers， right when Tori is moving about an hour away。 We are given a few flashbacks， which I love， of them together。 Eventually， things happen and they have an awful break-up。 We are told that they no longer are in touch， and that there are a lot of hurt feelings。 Tori is hurting。 Jace is angry as hell with Tori。 Circumstances eventually bring them back together。 Tori is down on her luck。 Jace is a football god。 Keep in mind， I still liked this book， and gave it three stars。 I just didn't love it。 I might even be a bit harder on it because I'm usually head over heels for both Ms。 Brent's Gentry series （and subsequent spin0ffs） and her standalone books。 She's an author worth reading。 And I highly recommend giving her books a go。Now， for the criticism （and a little praise）。We are told that Tori and Jace had a huge falling out， and then given the flashbacks。 The reason for their breakup drove me crazy。 It's one of those "If they had only talked" situations。 Tori was definitely dealing with more than Jace was， and I could almost see why she fell apart。 The issue I had was， before her falling apart， she had a chance to talk to Jace and due to jealousy， didn't take it。 I get that this was high school， and they behaved like high schoolers。 Maybe that's why I didn't care for it。 I'm definitely not a high schooler and can't get into that drama these days。 I couldn't understand why they didn't even have a conversation。This book relies fairly heavy on the drama when it comes to the relationships within。 I don't think any of the things that happened in the book were surprising， I don't think they were meant to be。 It's a fairly easy read。 I think where this book shines is with the characters。 I really liked both Tori and Jace。 They weren't always the nicest to one another， but it fit the story。 And while their teenage selves drove me bananas， the adult Tori and adult Jace were likable。 Tori wasn't a typical w0e-is-me heroine， and that is always refreshing （and always my absolute favorite thing about Cora Brent books）。This book also deals a lot with Jace's relationship with Tori's brother， Colt。 I thought it was handled well。 I know Colt is getting a book of his own。 I'm on the fence as to whether or not I will read it。 Colt was written as one helluva manwhore in his younger （teen） days and， depending on who the heroine is， I may or may not read it。 （The reasons here are purely a "me" thing。 I'm sure the book will be stupidly well written）Still， even with my above criticism， I didn't hate this book。 I'm glad it was on KU。 I normally buy Cora Brent books with one-click， but for some reason I got this one that way。 It's one that I enjoyed， and am glad I read， but it won't go into that re-read pile of Brent's books for me。 。。。more

Characters With Layers I’m not crying。。。 you’re crying！ Ugh the way Cora Brent wrote these characters was so good。 I love a good brothers best friend trope but this one was like an onion。 You cried and peeled back one layer and there was another layer！ Loved Colt。 Hated him for a little bit but he got back in my good graces。 Loved Tori。 Bless her。 Her character growth was nice to see。 Then there is Jace。 Oh Jace。 The rollercoaster of emotions。 This was a fantastic read。

4 stars！This was a great second chance story。 This is the story of Jacek （Jace） and Victoria （Tori）。 Tori and her brother Colt lived in Arcana， Texas all their lives。 They met Jace one day when they were young， as he had just moved to live with his grandmother。 Tori was the oldest， but she was held back a grade to keep her brother Colt out of trouble。 Jace was exactly six months between the two。 The three were thick as thieves their whole lives， but one bad week in high school ruins everything f 4 stars！This was a great second chance story。 This is the story of Jacek （Jace） and Victoria （Tori）。 Tori and her brother Colt lived in Arcana， Texas all their lives。 They met Jace one day when they were young， as he had just moved to live with his grandmother。 Tori was the oldest， but she was held back a grade to keep her brother Colt out of trouble。 Jace was exactly six months between the two。 The three were thick as thieves their whole lives， but one bad week in high school ruins everything for all three of them。。。 Tori/Jace， Tori/Colt and Colt/Jace。 This is probably my one complaint of the story。 I know there were a lot of serious things that happened between the three of them （less so with Colt）， but I can't imagine it was bad enough to make them all grow so far apart over ten years。。。 especially Tori and Colt because they're siblings。 I can see Jace and Tori having the issues because they're so young， but I can't imagine Tori and Colt growing apart。They're reunited out of spite years later。 Tori falls on hard times and has to go back to their hometown。 Jace gets word she's there， and wants to go back and torment her because he still holds a grudge on what happened between them ten years prior。 I didn't believe Jace would do that。 Regardless， he realizes he's a jerk and still loves Tori， and their relationship starts to improve。 He even brings Colt back in the mix。 There are a lot of heavy issues in the past and in the present， and I think Cora handles them tactfully。This isn't my favorite Cora Brent book， but I do recommend it。 I love her writing and her ability to tell a story， completely immersing you into a world and feeling attachment to characters。 I will say， I am EAGER for Colt's story。 I cannot wait to see the girl who knocks him on his butt！ As always， YMMV。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this second chances romance。 I flew through this book and couldn’t put it down。 As it starts with them as YA， a lot of the drama could have been explained away but who’s ever that put together as a YA。 Great story and characters and I would happily recommend this book。
